A small village built around O’Hare
Rosemont is unusual among the suburbs we cover. It has fewer than 4,000 residents but hosts Allstate Arena, the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, the Rosemont Theatre and Impact Field, plus a cluster of hotels and offices beside O’Hare. Much of its land is highway interchange.
Most residents rent, and about seven in ten homes sit in complexes of five or more units. So a junk car in Rosemont is rarely sitting in a backyard. It’s in a building garage, an assigned space in a surface lot, or a reserved stall someone else is waiting for.
Getting a tow truck to your parking space
Building lots and garages need a little planning. Before you request a quote, find out:
- Whether the truck can enter the garage, and the clearance height.
- Whether there’s a gate, key fob or code, and who can open it.
- Which level and space number the car is in.
- Whether the car rolls, steers and has air in the tires.
If the garage is too low for a tow truck, the car may need to be pushed or pulled out to the entrance first. If the car won’t start but you’re still weighing a repair, our guide for owners of a non-running car compares fixing, selling as-is and junking.
Addresses that say Des Plaines or Schiller Park
Rosemont doesn’t have a ZIP of its own. Many addresses use 60018, which is Des Plaines’ ZIP and also accepts “Rosemont,” and parts of the village use Schiller Park’s 60176. When you book, give us the full street address and building name. The ZIP alone won’t tell a driver which side of the village line you’re on.
Paperwork and neighbors
Have your title signed and ready if you can. If it’s missing, tell us what you have, such as registration, proof of insurance or a bill of sale from when you bought it, plus photo ID. Illinois sets which papers are acceptable for a scrap sale; we check yours on the phone. Remove plates, parking stickers and any toll transponder before pickup.
We also tow in Des Plaines to the north and Schiller Park to the south, plus the rest of our area directory.
Selling a car in Rosemont: common questions
My junk car is in my apartment building's garage. Can it be towed from there?
Often, yes. Ask building management about the garage's clearance height and whether a tow truck may enter. If the ceiling is too low, the car can usually be rolled or pulled out to the drive or the street first. Tell us the details when you call.
My address says Des Plaines, but I live in Rosemont. Is that a problem?
No. ZIP 60018 is shared by Des Plaines and Rosemont, and parts of Rosemont also use Schiller Park's 60176. Give us the street address and building name if there is one, and we'll find the car.
