Lynwood looks different from the older suburbs north of it. It was founded in 1959, it still has a lot of farmland, and nearly a quarter of its housing units are mobile homes. That spread means pickups here range from a cul-de-sac driveway to a lot inside a manufactured-home community to a pole barn off a rural road.
No street parking at night, no long stays anywhere
Lynwood bans every car, truck, trailer and motorcycle from streets, alleys and public ways between 2 and 6 a.m. That rule alone rules out leaving a dead car at the curb. Resident permit zones don’t change it either; the overnight ban and the snow rule still apply inside them.
Snow adds a second restriction. When snow on a street passes two inches, parking stops (beyond short loading stops) from the start of the snowfall until eight hours after it ends, and through plowing.
Private property gives you more room but not forever. A partially dismantled, wrecked, junked, discarded or nonoperating vehicle can’t stay on any property longer than 10 days unless it’s inside an enclosed building or can’t readily be seen from public places or neighboring property. On an open mobile-home lot, that exception rarely fits.
Selling it the simple way
A broken car with a “For Sale” sign has its own problems in Lynwood. It can’t be parked on a vacant lot, an unpaved surface or the public way, and it must be properly registered. Many owners decide a private sale isn’t worth the hassle and sell to a junk buyer instead.
Give us the vehicle details and where it sits. If it’s on a farm parcel, tell us about the drive in: gravel, mud or a gate. Our tow is free wherever the car is in the village, and you’re paid at pickup.
Paperwork for a Lynwood scrap sale
A title in your name is the cleanest route. When it’s missing, list whatever you have, such as the registration card, insurance card, a bill of sale and a photo ID. Illinois rules set which papers can support a scrap sale, and we go over yours on the phone. Our guide to selling a junk car without a title in Illinois goes deeper.

Selling a car in Lynwood: common questions
Can you tow a junk car out of a mobile home community in Lynwood?
Yes. Mobile homes make up a large share of Lynwood housing, and pickups from those lots are routine. Let us know if the park office needs a heads-up or has rules about where tow trucks can stop, and give us the lot number with the address.
Is it legal to park my broken car on a vacant lot until it's sold?
No. Lynwood's parking rules bar parking on vacant lots and closed businesses, and a vehicle with a 'For Sale' sign can't sit on a vacant lot, an unpaved surface or the public way. Keep it on your own paved spot and we'll collect it there.
