Picking up on each side of the river
In a city this size, the first useful detail is which part of Aurora the car is in. The city grew from two villages on opposite banks of the Fox River, and it still splits into a West Side, an East Side and the newer Far East Side out by Route 59 and Fox Valley.
The West Side holds some of the city’s oldest neighborhoods, including about 138 identified Sears mail-order houses, most of them around New York Street. If your car is in a detached garage or on a pad behind the house, say so when you call. A car tucked behind a house needs a different hookup than one at the curb, and knowing that ahead of time keeps the visit short.
Townhouses are a big part of the mix: census figures put single-unit attached homes at about one in six Aurora units. If your car is in a shared lot or visitor space, check with the association first and give us the space or building number.
Aurora parking rules that affect a car that won’t start
A dead car can collect tickets fast in Aurora. Downtown, every street is off-limits from 3:00 to 5:00 a.m., and the city code adds the same overnight window on certain listed streets outside downtown. After a snowfall of two inches or more, the code restricts parking on public streets and alleys, and the city can remove cars that sit in the way of snow removal.
The front lawn isn’t an option either. Aurora bars parking on the open front-yard area between the lot line and the house, so a car pushed onto the grass to clear the driveway can still draw a citation. If the car is stuck somewhere awkward, describe it, and the driver comes ready for it.
When the title is missing
A missing title is not always the end of a sale. Our guide on replacing a lost Illinois title explains how to apply for a duplicate and when it makes sense to wait for one before selling.

Selling a car in Aurora: common questions
Can I leave a dead car on my front lawn in Aurora while I sell it?
Not legally. Aurora's code bars parking on the open part of a front yard between the lot line and the house. Keep the car on the driveway or in the garage until pickup, and tell us where it sits so the driver knows how to reach it.
Do you pick up on Aurora's Far East Side near Route 59?
Yes. The Fox Valley side of Aurora, east of the DuPage County line, is part of our regular coverage, the same as the West Side and the near East Side. Townhome communities are fine as long as the association allows the tow.
I can't find the title for my car. Can I still sell it in Aurora?
Often, but it depends on your documents. Tell us what you have, such as a registration card, an old bill of sale, an insurance card and your ID. Illinois rules decide which papers can support a scrap sale, and we confirm that on the call before anyone schedules a truck.
