Every street empties at 2 a.m.
Glencoe doesn’t allow parking on any of its streets between 2 and 6 in the morning, and the same goes for most village lots, unless a sign says otherwise. Greenwood Avenue between Hazel and Park is one of the exceptions, where parking is allowed for up to 48 hours.
For a working car, that’s a habit. For a broken one, it’s a problem. If the car quits on the street, it can’t be moved into a driveway on its own, and village permission to leave it overnight is meant for short, unusual cases: two days per request, 10 requests per year.
That leaves two practical paths: push or tow it onto private property, or sell it and have it hauled off. We handle the second, with free towing.
Pickup from Glencoe homes
More than nine in ten Glencoe homes are single-family detached houses, and almost all are owned by the people living in them. So the junk car is most likely in the garage or on the drive.
Tell us the address, where on the property the car sits and whether the tires still hold air. A car stored under a cover often has flat tires and stuck brakes; that’s fine, but it helps to know before the truck arrives.

Title and paperwork in Illinois
The cleanest sale uses a signed title. If you can’t find it, list for us what you do have (registration, an insurance ID card, a purchase receipt) and your ID. Which of those Illinois accepts for a vehicle going to scrap depends on the state’s rules, and we’ll walk through it with you on the call. Remove the plates before pickup and keep a copy of what you sign.

Selling a car in Glencoe: common questions
Can I use Glencoe's overnight parking permission for a car that won't start?
The permission is for temporary, unusual situations and is capped at two days per request and 10 requests a year. It can cover a night or two while you arrange a pickup, but it won't keep a dead car on the street for weeks. Call Public Safety to request it.
Do you pick up in the part of Glencoe with a Winnetka-area ZIP?
Yes. A corner of Glencoe uses ZIP 60093 and a small commercial area uses 60062, but it's the same village to us. Give us the street address and we tow from it at no charge.
