The car-cover rule
Hanover Park handles the “project car in the driveway” problem in its own way. Its amended property maintenance code says an inoperable vehicle kept outside a garage has to wear a store-bought, opaque cover fitted to its shape, with the plates hidden, and each dwelling unit gets one such vehicle at most. A blue tarp and bungee cords don’t count, and neither does a second dead car beside the first.
The code also bars parking on grass or dirt, and a separate section makes it unlawful to pile up non-running vehicles or parts on any premises. If you’ve been covering a car for a repair that never happens, selling it is usually the cleaner answer.
Street rules and the tow sticker
Village streets are closed to parking from 2 to 6 a.m., apart from a list of streets with odd/even-day overnight parking, and after 2 inches of snow nobody may park on a street for 24 hours. On a public street, 24 hours without moving is enough for a car that looks deserted to be classed as abandoned. The village then mails a certified notice and puts a tow sticker on the car at least 7 days before towing, and the owner has 7 days to ask for a hearing.
Townhomes, houses and Ontarioville
About half of Hanover Park homes are detached houses and almost a third are attached townhomes, so a junk car often sits in a single driveway or a shared townhouse lot. The Postal Service lists “Ontarioville” as an alternate name for Bartlett’s ZIP, 60103, even though Ontarioville is a Hanover Park neighborhood near Lake Street and County Farm Road, so give us the full street address and town when you call.
Give us the basics: year, make, model, condition. If the offer works, we tow it at no charge, pay you at pickup and can often come the same day. Title missing? Keep your ID and any registration or insurance paperwork nearby when you call, because Illinois rules govern whether a car can be scrapped without its title, and we confirm the details before booking. Our page on no-title junk car rules in Illinois goes deeper.
Around Hanover Park
Schaumburg borders Hanover Park on the east and Bartlett on the west; we tow in both, plus the rest of our service area.
Selling a car in Hanover Park: common questions
Can I just put a cover on my broken car in Hanover Park?
Only a specific kind, and only for one car. The village allows an inoperable vehicle outside a garage if it's under a commercially made, opaque, form-fitting cover that hides the plates, with a limit of one per home. A tarp doesn't qualify. If the car is done, selling it ends the issue.
Can I sell my old car from a Hanover Park shopping-center lot?
No. Section 62-11-1324 bans displaying a vehicle for sale on a street or in a shopping-center parking lot. For a car that doesn't run, a junk sale is simpler: we quote it, tow it free from your home and pay you at pickup.
