A large village with every kind of driveway
Orland Park covers 22.31 square miles and had 58,703 residents in 2020. It runs south to I-80, which forms its southern border, and a small piece reaches into Will County. About 57% of homes are detached houses, roughly a fifth are attached single-family homes, and the rest are in multi-unit buildings.
So pickups vary: a driveway off La Grange Road, an attached garage on a side street, a condo lot near Orland Square Mall or one of the three Metra stations at 143rd, 153rd and 179th Streets. Wherever the car is, we tow it at no charge.
The 7-day definition and the 10-day tow
The village’s nuisance code covers inoperable cars in public view on public or private property. Under that section, a car is inoperable when missing or altered parts (the engine, the wheels, anything essential) have kept it from moving on its own for at least a week. Quick repairs of up to three days are exempt, and a car kept inside a building isn’t covered.
When police or Code Enforcement act, they issue a notice of impending tow, and the tow is set for the 10th day after that notice. You can request a tow hearing. Ten days is also plenty of time to get a quote and book a pickup instead.
Street limits and snow
Even a car that runs can’t sit in one spot on a village street for more than 24 hours. Once snow on the street passes 2 inches, parking is cut to brief stops (three minutes to let passengers out, half an hour to load property), from the start of the snowfall until eight hours after it ends, and police may tow violators. Old Orland also has resident-only parking areas that require a decal.
What the car is worth, and the papers
Size, weight, completeness and whether the car runs all move the number. Our guide to how junk car offers are worked out explains each factor without hype.
Payment is made at pickup. If your title is misplaced, just tell us which papers you can lay hands on; the state’s rules decide what’s acceptable for a scrap sale, and we confirm that in the same conversation as the quote.
We also cover Orland Hills to the south, Tinley Park to the southeast and Homer Glen to the west. Our location directory lists the rest.
Selling a car in Orland Park: common questions
How long can a car sit in one spot on an Orland Park street?
No more than 24 hours under § 9-7-1(13), and vehicles with trailers or over 22 feet long can't be left on streets or alleys. Once snow on the street passes 2 inches, the limit drops to a few minutes until plowing is done.
Do I need to cancel an Orland Park vehicle sticker when I sell?
No. The village repealed its vehicle license chapter in its entirety as obsolete in April 2026, so there's no village sticker to deal with. Your Illinois title and license plates are still part of the sale.
