A village of apartment lots
Justice doesn’t look like the house-and-driveway suburbs around it. About half its homes are in buildings with two or more units, and more than four in ten sit in complexes of five or more. Just over half of households own their home. So a dead car here is as likely to be in a shared parking lot as in a garage.
That changes the pickup. Give us the complex name, the building and your stall, and check whether management wants notice before a tow truck comes in. If there’s a lot attendant or a gate code, pass that along too.
Why a parked car still needs attention
Two parts of the village code matter for a car that’s stopped running. First, Justice counts any vehicle in disrepair that can’t be driven as “abandoned,” even if you still think of it as yours, and leaving one in public view anywhere other than your own property breaks § 6-42. If the car sits in a shared complex lot, ask your landlord how long they’ll put up with it.
Second, the sticker rule reaches further than in most towns. It isn’t only about driving on village streets: the code also bars keeping or storing a vehicle in Justice without a current sticker. Paying for a fresh sticker on a car headed for scrap rarely makes sense.
Streets, snow and Archer Avenue
Archer Avenue (IL-171) is the spine of the village, and parts of Archer, 79th Street and 83rd Street ban parking on the roadway or within 10 feet of the curb. The village also asks residents to keep cars off streets after an inch of snow until plows pass, and police may ticket or tow. A broken car left at the curb in winter can end up at a tow yard before you’ve sold it.
Papers and the next step
We pay at pickup. If you can’t find the title, don’t guess at what will work. Read us the documents you have and we’ll tell you on the phone where Illinois rules leave you; our guide to selling a junk car without a title in Illinois explains the state side in more depth.
Across the village lines we also serve Willow Springs, Hickory Hills and Bridgeview; see all our pickup areas for the rest.
Selling a car in Justice: common questions
Do I need a Justice vehicle sticker on a car that doesn't run?
The village code says a vehicle can't be kept or stored anywhere in Justice without a current sticker, not just driven. The village page applies that to vehicles registered to or housed in Justice. Selling a dead car ends the question rather than paying to sticker something you won't drive.
Can you pick up from my apartment complex parking lot in Justice?
Yes. Tell us the complex name, the building and stall, and whether management needs notice before a tow truck enters. If the car is wedged between other vehicles, mention it so the driver can plan the angle. The tow costs you nothing.
